Your Urology Care Team: More Experts, More Support

At AUCNY, providing exceptional urologic care is a team effort. Alongside our urologists, our Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, collectively known as Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), play an important role in your care.
APPs are highly trained, licensed healthcare professionals who complete advanced education and extensive clinical training and hold national board certifications. Depending on their qualifications and scope of practice, they can evaluate patients, diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions, order diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and perform certain procedures.
Your urologist may recommend seeing an APP for:
- Prostate and bladder concerns
- Men’s sexual health
- Kidney stones and urinary symptoms
- Pelvic floor conditions and other urologic concerns
By working closely with your urologist, APPs help ensure you receive timely, coordinated, and personalized care.
BPH Doesn’t Have to Control Your Life
As men age, the prostate often enlarges, sometimes causing uncomfortable urinary symptoms. If you’re experiencing frequent urination, difficulty starting, a weak stream, or interrupted sleep, you don’t have to simply live with it.
At AUCNY, we offer a range of treatment options for BPH based on your symptoms, prostate size, and individual needs, including:
- Medications to help manage symptoms
- Minimally invasive treatments that may provide relief with less recovery time than traditional surgery
- Surgical options for patients who need more extensive treatment
Not every treatment is right for every patient. Your urologist can help you understand your options and determine the best approach for you.
Wondering how severe your symptoms are?

Could You Benefit from a Clinical Trial?
If you’ve been diagnosed with a urologic condition, you may have more treatment options than you realize – including clinical trials. Clinical trials are research studies that evaluate new medications, treatments, procedures or approaches to care.
For some patients, participating in a clinical trial may provide access to a promising treatment that is not yet widely available. Clinical trials also give patients the opportunity to play an important role in advancing medical care and helping future patients with the same condition.
Clinical trials aren’t right for everyone, and eligibility depends on the specific study. Your urologist can help you understand whether participating may be appropriate for you.
