Dr. Gary Lefkowitz graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania. After receiving his degree he attended the New York University School of Medicine. Upon graduation he completed his general surgery and urology training at New York University Medical Center, working under Chairman Dr. Herbert Lepor. During his time at NYU, Dr. Lefkowitz participated in many clinical and basic science research projects, leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Since completing his post-graduate training, Dr. Lefkowitz has practiced urology on the South Shore of Long Island. He treats all urologic conditions including prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, stone disease, prostate enlargement (BPH), incontinence, infertility and erectile dysfunction. He performs laparoscopic surgery for a variety of urologic problems allowing patients to recover more quickly from their operation. He provides treatment with newer technologies including laser prostatectomy and a variety of procedures for kidney stones.
Dr. Lefkowitz currently is an attending physician at South Nassau Communities Hospital and Mercy Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Urology and an active member of the American Urological Association.
